Mary Pestana
I’m grateful for finding Dr. Pettle ….. a few years ago, I thought that I was going crazy!! I was incredibly itchy, especially on my legs and I would scratch to the point of bleeding. I was extremely tired all the time, my had was in a fog and I felt light headed most of the time. I began to experience panic attacks for the first time in my life and depending on the time of the month, I would experience tiny needle like pricks around my heart area. I would get incredibly bad headaches and my menstruation cycle went from every 4 weeks to every 3 weeks. I realized these symptoms were becoming more frequent and coping was consuming my whole day. It began to scare me because I didn’t know what was happening to me and I turned into an emotional basket case. I refused family outings and began to spend a lot of time at home afraid that one of these symptoms would surface while I was out and not knowing how to cope, I would panic. This was extremely difficult for me as I’ve always been extremely independent. Thus my quest for an answer began. After numerous visits to my Family Physician, I sensed the Dr.’s frustration in not having an answer for me and that’s when I began to see the Medical Specialists. I visited Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists and had numerous tests done…nothing was wrong but I was given a Rx. I visited Gynecologists who insisted there was nothing wrong…but gave a Rx for birth control. In the end, the Family Physician suggested I re-examine my marriage! I never visited him again and it was on that drive home that I was determined to find an answer. Although I think it beneficial, I also didn’t have any luck with Homeopath, Naturopath or Natural Nutrionist. During this time I had made a new friend and she began joining me for lunch time walks. I shared how I was feeling with her and she suggested that perhaps I was going through perimenopause. "At my age!! I’m only 37!!" She gave to me the speech of symptoms: 5-15 years prior to menopause, etc. and suggested that I call Dr. Pettle, since a friend of hers (although much older) was his patient. Wanting and needing to know more, I went to the book store and purchased a few books including What Your Dr. May Not Tell You About Perimenopause…Bingo, this was it!! I still refer to this book today!! Now that I had all the information, I couldn’t find a Doctor to treat me in the way I needed to be treated. Conventional doctors and specialists looked at me weird, they couldn’t relate to the information I had. They would actually look puzzled! And so finally, after waiting many months to see him I visited with Dr. Pettle. He was so kind, understanding, nothing I was telling him puzzled him!! He prescribed Progesterone 3% and slowly the symptoms began to minimize. I’m more like my old self and feel extremely blessed to find a Doctor who understands me.
